Executive Pastor–Rev. Justin Johnson
Justin Johnson came to Newark Baptist Church as an intern in the summer of 2011. The following year, after graduating from Boston Baptist College, he was asked to join the church staff as Director of Outreach. In June 2012, he and his wife Sarah moved to Maryland to begin their ministry here. Ordained by the church in 2015, he continued his duties as part of the Pastoral staff as Rev. Justin Johnson. On June 4, 2016, at the passing of our senior pastor, Rev. Clayton Moorman, Rev. Johnson accepted the position of Interim Pastor. On September 11, 2016 he was voted in as the Executive Pastor of Newark Baptist Church.
Pastor Justin was considered too young by many outside the church to be a pastor, but the congregation heeded Paul’s words to Timothy, “Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity” (I Timothy 4:12). He has been that example; he is a dynamic speaker, with a genuine love for his brothers and sisters in Christ and a burden for the lost.
Pastor Justin was born in Wilkesboro, North Carolina. Raised in a Christian home, Justin accepted Christ as his personal savior at the age of sixteen. Shortly thereafter he felt the call into the ministry and after graduating from high school went to Boston, Massachusetts to attend Boston Baptist College. On July 10, 2010 he married Sarah Roselle and they have three children, Mark, Hannah, and Rebekah.
